Text Messaging Terms

Effective date: October 25, 2026

These terms govern the Miami Arts Charter School text messaging program, which lets parents, guardians, and prospective families exchange text messages with school staff and receive school communications by text. By opting in, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. What you will receive

Depending on how you opted in, messages may include:

  • replies from school staff to questions you send through our website or by text;
  • reminders and alerts, such as schedule changes, early dismissal days, campus closures, and attendance notices;
  • information about school performances, auditions, admissions events, and other school activities.

Messages come from the School's text number and identify Miami Arts Charter School.

2. How to opt in

You can join the program by:

  • submitting your mobile number and checking the consent box on the inquiry form at miamiartscharter.net;
  • agreeing to receive text messages from the School on an enrollment or registration form;
  • texting the School's number, which allows staff to reply to your message;
  • texting START to the School's number.

After you opt in, you will receive one confirmation message: "Miami Arts Charter School: You are opted in to text messages from the school. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out."

Texting the School with a question allows us to reply about that question. It does not by itself subscribe you to school announcements.

3. Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Most families receive a few messages per month, with more during emergencies, schedule changes, or events. Conversations with staff continue until your question is resolved.

4. Cost

Message and data rates may apply. The School does not charge for text messages, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply to every message you send or receive. Check with your carrier for details about your plan.

5. How to opt out

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from the School. You will receive one final message confirming that you have opted out, and no further messages will be sent. The words STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT also work. To rejoin, text START to the School's number.

Opting out stops all text messages from the School's number, including reminders and alerts. The School will continue to contact you by other means, such as phone, email, and the Parent Portal, for official notices.

6. How to get help

Reply HELP to any message, call the school office at (305) 763-6257, or email mac@miamiartscharter.net. Staff respond to text messages between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, on school days. Messages received outside those hours are answered on the next school day.

7. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and the account holder or an authorized user of the mobile number you provide. The program is intended for parents, guardians, prospective families, and other adults, not for students.

8. Carriers

The program is available on major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and device, and the School cannot guarantee that a message will be delivered or read.

9. Please keep in mind

  • Not for emergencies. Do not use text messages to report an emergency. Call 911 or the school office.
  • Student information. Do not send confidential student information, such as grades, health details, or disciplinary matters, by text. Use the Parent Portal or contact the office directly.
  • Public records. Text messages sent to and from the School may be public records under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes. See our Public Records page.
  • Automated replies. Confirmation, opt-out, and HELP responses are automated. All other replies come from school staff.

10. Privacy

Your mobile number and your opt-in consent will not be shared with or sold to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Continued participation after a change means you accept the updated terms.
