ADVANCED PROGRAM

Program Overview

The Advanced Program at Miami Arts Charter School empowers students to pursue academic and artistic excellence through a balanced and challenging curriculum. By taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Dual Enrollment, students can earn up to 60 college credits before graduation, potentially starting college as sophomores or juniors. Students who complete the AP Capstone Diploma graduate with both an Advanced Placement Diploma and a high school diploma.

The AP Capstone Diploma develops advanced research, critical thinking, and presentation skills. To earn the diploma, students must pass four AP exams (with a score of 3 or higher) and complete AP Seminar and AP Research. These courses teach students how to evaluate information, conduct independent research, and present their findings—preparing them for success in college and beyond.

Advanced Placement (AP) Program Benefits

Taking and passing Advanced Placement (AP) classes and exams can earn students college credit at many post-secondary institutions, helping reduce both the number of required classes and overall tuition costs.

Students pursuing the AP Capstone Diploma receive special recognition on college applications, highlighting their commitment to a more rigorous academic path. The work completed in AP Seminar and AP Research often strengthens scholarship and college applications by showcasing students’ advanced research, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
