Program Overview

The Photography Department offers young photographers and artists the confidence and skills they need to create, challenge themselves, and grow as creative people. Knowledge of the history of photography is essential to furthering student skills and creative energies. Our goal is to provide photography students with this historical context, understanding of formal elements of a photograph, technical ability, and conceptual practices to enable them to contribute their creative vision to the world. Miami Arts Charter School is strongly committed to providing an environment that integrates the fine art of photography into the lives of each of their students and helps them develop their creative potential to the highest degree possible.

Visiting artists, internships, visits from college representatives, as well as field trips to museums and galleries supplement classes. Students will have exhibition opportunities throughout the year in professional venues.
