Student Clubs & Organizations

At Miami Arts Charter School, student clubs and organizations play a vital role in creating a vibrant and connected school community. With a wide range of interest-based, service-driven, and culturally enriching clubs to choose from, students have the opportunity to explore new passions, build leadership skills, and form lasting friendships outside of the classroom.

Whether joining a book club or launching a service initiative, students gain valuable real-world experience in collaboration, time management, and problem-solving. Participation in clubs not only enhances personal growth and school spirit but also strengthens college applications by showing dedication, initiative, and community involvement. At MAC, we believe every student should have the chance to lead, connect, and thrive—and student organizations help make that possible.

Club Blurb: Key Club is the oldest and largest student-led community service organization for high school students, operating on over 5,000 campuses across more than 40 countries. With a mission rooted in leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness, Key Club empowers members to plan and participate in service projects that support schools, local communities, and global initiatives such as UNICEF and March of Dimes.

Being part of Key Club offers students more than opportunities to serve—it builds a strong foundation for future success. Colleges and scholarship committees value sustained commitment to community service and leadership, both of which Key Club embodies. Members develop organizational skills by coordinating events, refining their communication through volunteer work, and enhancing their profiles with measurable impact, often volunteering 50 or more hours annually. Such experiences strengthen college applications, enrich personal statements, and prepare students for civic engagement later in life.

How to Join Junior Thespian Honor Society: To join the Junior Thespian Honor Society at Miami Arts Charter School, students must fulfill the following criteria based on Florida chapter guidelines:

  • Maintain at least a 2.0 unweighted GPA.

  • Be willing to commit to a minimum of 50 service hours per year, combining home, school, and community projects.

  • Complete a written application and submit it to the club advisor for approval.

  • Pay the annual Key Club dues (currently $7 to Key Club International, plus any district-specific dues).

  • Attend regular Key Club meetings and participate actively in scheduled service projects.

  • Consider running for officer positions (such as president, vice‑president, secretary, treasurer, or editor) to develop leadership and organizational skills.

Once admitted, members attend school and community service events, can pursue leadership roles within the club, and are eligible to represent Miami Arts at district and international conferences. Key Club service and achievement often translate into stronger college essays, scholarship opportunities, and a portfolio of civic engagement.
