Instrumental jazz requirements
GENERAL PROCEDURES AND INFORMATION
- Students should arrive early to warm-up or set-up instruments. The prepared selections should not be more than 5 minutes total.
- The school will provide a drum set and piano for the jazz audition. Otherwise, all students must provide their own instruments for the audition. Necessary amplifiers for guitarists are to be provided by the student.
The instrumental jazz audition shall consist of the two following activities:
- Perform Two Brief Prepared Pieces (all instruments except drums)- Perform two pieces of contrasting styles that showcase your skills and style. If you are able to, include improvisation in one or both of your prepared performance pieces.
